“School is not for everyone. There is a danger for those with no sense of direction and not knowing what they want to do when they leave school, it is so easy not to care.

We wanted to give a little something back and to give the boys an insight into the industry. Construction is hidden in school. They don’t really realise what their options are. This really gives them a feel for it.’’

Brian Hearn, Managing Director at Future Build Specialist

Our AIM IS to build a better future by working with schools IN SUSSEX to educate pupils about construction industry career opportunities.

Why did we start the Construction Education & Skills Programme?

The initiative was started because we feel that there is lack of education in Sussex and in the UK about career opportunities within the construction industry. We are passionate about construction and feel proud that it contributes so much to the British economy. We want school pupils to feel informed and proud should they choose to pursue a career in construction after leaving school.

How does the Construction Education & Skills Programme work?

Future Build Specialist in partnership with local merchants, suppliers and educational establishments are able to provide 1-day interactive training opportunities at local high schools in order to allow children to try their hand at 4 key skills demanded within the construction industry:

Carpentry

Electrical

Bricklaying

Plumbing

Are there any expenses to be paid by the school or the pupils?

No. Thanks to our fantastic staff and partners we are able to offer training free of charge. The aim is to help the community. Our long run aim it to get government funding for this initiative and for careers within construction to be highly regarded and given the attention they deserve within the UK education system. We believe the current high school curriculum often doesn’t reward certain personality characteristics that are highly demanded in our workplace.
